CONFERENCE IN PARIS

Last week, Their Royal Highnesses travelled to Paris for the opening of the VIIth International Congress of Victims of Terrorism. The Prince of Asturias has attended all the previous Congresses of Victims of Terrorism and opened the first one that took place in Madrid in 2004. Since their marriage, Princess Letizia has attended all the Congresses with the Prince in Bogotá, Valencia(Spain), Madrid, Medellín(Colombia), Salamanca(Spain) and Paris.

The next day, back in Madrid, the Prince and Princess officially closed the Ist International Congress on Ethics and Tourism taking place in Madrid. Focus on Travel News describes the Congress thus:
Organized by UNWTO and the Spanish General Secretariat of Tourism and Domestic Trade, the Congress has brought together over 450 tourism officials, business leaders, international organizations and experts in the field of ethics and tourism to debate how to guarantee a truly responsible and sustainable tourism sector. The two-day meeting will address questions of gender equality, tourism’s role in poverty reduction, sustainable tourism practices in both the public and private sector, and codes of ethical conduct

Today Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias had lunch at the Palace of the Senate after delivering the Luis Carandell journalism award for Parliamentary Journalism. After entering the Palace, Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia delivered the award to veteran journalist Iñaki Gabilondo. Don Felipe gave a speech defending freedom of speech and journalism.
